The Crucifixion consisted of 2 thieves; 1 crucified ‘dominating personality’. The thieves were tied, the central figure was nailed.
The 2 thieves have to be tied: ‘fixed’ fairly reliably to their cross. When they crucify each other – as the inevitable result of their ‘fixed’ fixation – they become ‘nailed’.
How moving the Crucifixion & the Deposition can then become! The church would have to move over to make room on the bed.
